ZEKI SOYAK

EDITORIAL;

WE SHOULD NOT CONFORM TO OUR DESIRES.

Human beings are like mines. They have various characters and different personalities. Some of these characteristics are inherent in their creations, and some of them are acquired through family, environment and education in time.

Our prophet (P.B.U.H.) draws attention to the influence of environment and education on human beings indicating that every child is born Muslim naturally and subsequently his/her parents convert his/her into Christian, Jewish or Magian (fireworshipper).

Human being both affects and is affected.

Therefore, human beings should be careful in the selection of the environments that he will affect and be affected and should have sound information about them.

Wrong choices and deficient knowledge may end up with irreversible results.

Some people are scholars, but they do not act in accordance with what they know; they only serve as porters of knowledge. While it is expected Islamic knowledge to save one from the simplicity, as he does not act in accordance of this knowledge, he can not benefit from it and thus he cannot be away from simplicity. Due to his stupidity, both he and his environment may have great difficulties, commit sins and even deviate from the true path.

And some people are devouts and pray day and night. However, they are not scholars. They do not endeavour to learn religious duties and even they do not feel their necessity. They are not cognizant of the fact that a prayer without Islamic knowledge is full of various issues.

As a result, knowledge which is not put into practice, and praying without knowledge leads to conceit and arrogance.

However, sound-minded human beings are not conceited and haughty. On the contrary, they are modest.

Because modesty is of Prophets’ and haughtiness is of Satan’s.

To sum up, a real scholar is a real devout as well as a real sound-minded person.

A real devout attaches importance to knowledge.

And sound-minded person gives importance to knowledge and acts according to this knowledge.

These three characteristics, namely knowledge, practice and reason are like the rings of a chain. Any person possessing these properties is the one who can be followed. Such a Muslim is a servant of Allah.

If a Muslim wants to be a sagacious one, a good servant of Allah and a good Muslim, he should try his best intimately and sincerely to put the essentials into practice.

It is nice to visualize and focus on the right, and rendering service. Nevertheless, only visualization is not enough. One should endeavour to put those in visualization into practice.

 In order to realize this:

1-We should learn Islamic teachings from real scholars.

2- We should be together with scholars, devouts and attend their lessons.

3-We should lead a life in accordance with what we have learned.

4-We should not conform to our desires. We should surmount the obstacles on our way. Normally self does not want to bear difficulties. It does not want us to lead a disciplined and principled life. Struggling against the self is the greatest holy struggle. It is impossible to be a real Muslim without surmounting such obstacles as self, devil, world, and human being.

Satan is an enemy, but he is weak. He whispers temptations. His aim is to widespread the evil through those deviated, and evil human beings. This is the greatest danger that a Satan can cause. Those who are under the influence of Satan give harm more than satans from which they get orders.

Such an evil life destroys the discernment of individuals and society. The evil acts they commit seem to be beneficial and righteous. He starts making concessions about the unchangeable principles of Islam, and regarding those concessions as a policy and and a contemporary approach to help the community to get rid of pressures. In time he begins to believe in the necessity and actuality of such a view.

5- We should look at those who are inferior to us in worldly affairs, and those who are superior in religious affairs.

6- We should regard the services that we render and prayers as blessings and gifts of Allah.

7- We should be afraid of only Allah.

8- We should not have a liking for cruels. We should never be helpful to them in any way.

We should love and show affection for those whom Allah loves for the sake of Allah, and should disfavour those infidels, and cruels whom Allah dislikes again for the sake of Allah. We should know that it is a requirement of faith to love for Allah, and to dislike for Allah.
